It is about to be August, and that means that the tropics are going to be heating up over the next several months. However, could we already be well on our way to an active Atlantic this first week of August? It is too early to tell just how active the rest of the season will likely be. Yet, we do already have some areas of concern in the Atlantic Ocean.

We have disturbance 1 close to Puerto Rico, and is expected to move over the Bahamas within the next five days. The conditions for this one do not appear to be favorable for further development anytime soon, but within the next five days there is a low chance (10%) that something could develop. We will have to keep a close eye on this one seeing that it is close to the U.S. We also have disturbance 2, coming off of the Verde Islands off of Africa. Not much is expected with this area of storms in the next few days, however it does have a low chance (20%) of forming later in the week, as it approaches the Caribbean. We will also have to continue to watch this area of storms as it crosses the Atlantic.
